I was searching for this book for quite some time... well, our office is having a "Knowledge Week" this week - November 14th to 18th and today, we receive a mail about the books in the Office Library (hitherto a blind spot!) and lo! and behold! there lies the answer to my quest!

Water, water everywhere... blackness, bleakness everywhere!
It was water, water, everywhere in Velachery yesterday... and with a major power shutdown that they (those *&^%$#$@ EB workers - I tell you, especially in Velachery EB these guys get on your nerves with their haphazard working style!) are loath to rectify... (this blog has become the-blog-that-curses-the-electricity-department) we are living without power from 9 a.m. yesterday - it is now 6 p.m. today! If I could wring someone's neck and get things rectified, I would!!! Unfortunately, I can't and so they live!!

Offers galore at book store
The slogan — "Oh my God! It's the Landmark sale" — with the tagline "up to 90 per cent off" brought in droves of people into the bookstore's two outlets last weekend. While crowds jostled for space at the discount section and bargain bookshelves, there was hardly any space at a particular spot — a table where audio cassettes were being sold for Rs. 10!
It was obvious that the cassettes had been lying unsold for at least three years but, for most of the shoppers, the throwaway price was too much to resist.
One was heard saying that they were cheaper than blank cassettes and re-selling them would be a good option. The sale in on till October 9. And while you are there, check out the hardbound classics on offer for Rs. 150 on the bargain shelves.

Last evening, the whole of Velachery area was plunged into darkness.
An extract from the Hindu -
<<CHENNAI: A sub-station of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board on Velachery High Road supplying electricity to areas including Velachery, Taramani and surrounding colonies caught fire, leading to a power breakdown in the area from 4 p.m.
EB sources said the fire was put out and the station brought back on stream by 10.30 p.m, though power was not restored fully in some areas till late last night. >>
It was a horrible, horrific evening, to say the least. Especially with kids in the house, the situation could be very taut. Mayhem reigned! I mean, there should be some kind of back-up in place. Rectification should NOT take EIGHT HOURS - yeah, that's right - power was restored at 00:15 hours - eight hours after the fire!
